When was the last time you received exactly what you wanted?
Were you taught in some way that it's rude/wrong to ask? Do you want to make clearer agreements? Do you notice a deep sigh or a little bit more relaxation in your body when you're in spaces with other people of color?
If you're a yes to these, we made this workshop just for you, and you're invited to join us this September in New Orleans for three days of practicing the Wheel of Consent.
The Wheel of Consent® enables deep understanding and practice interacting with genuine agency in a world that often demands compliance over consent. You may have heard that consent means “no, means no” - here we’ll practice feeling exactly what our yesses and noes feel like in our bodies and feel like to express. In this all-BIPOC space, we’ll engage in this practice with a little more access to our authentic yesses, noes, and space to choose.
We acknowledge that Race and Ethnicity are two of many identities that we all hold. We are not a monolith. We don't arrive free of bias and full of trust simply by entering the space. No one will be expected to perform this.
What we share is a nervous system shaped by living under white supremacy, patriarchy, and systemic oppression - the hypervigilance, the survival strategies, the cost of navigating spaces that do not center our humanity. This workshop holds that complexity. Space for the Black, Brown, Indigenous, POC lens isn't a section of this workshop. It is the container and the heart of it. Bring your whole self.
Together in this container, we will explore how we practice embedding choice in our lives, relationships, communities, and work. We’ll thread embodied practice, discussion and play together to provide you with tools to practice authenticity and clarity consistently in situations spanning from the bedroom to the boardroom.
